ABP is very proud and excited to announce The Department of Trade and Industry (the dti) and Association B-BBEE Professionals (ABP) have jointly decided to revive the Joint Technical Committee (JTC), which the B-BBEE Chief Directorate agreed to convene for the purpose of:
- Providing guidance, clarity and interpretation of technical issues from the dti Codes of Good Practice, agreed upon by both parties.
ABP acknowledges that their function/s on the JTC are not to suggest or attempt to influence policy amendments to the Codes of Good Practice as that remains the prerogative of the dti and the legislature.
We do however have a duty to highlight ambiguities within the legislation and sub-ordinate documentation so as to rectify these through a collaborative process.
The JTC shall be attended by:
- The Department of Trade and Industry (the dti);
- B-BBEE Commission;
- South African National Accreditation System (SANAS);
- Sector Charter Councils and
- Association of B-BBEE Professionals (ABP).
The JTC will form the platform for engagement between all relevant Stakeholders in order to address key issues in regard to the implementation of the Codes of Good Practice and all related legislation and regulations.
Member inputs are welcomed directly to ABP for us to collate / consolidate and present at the JTC.
ABP is looking forward to the JTC meeting taking place 13 December 2019 where role of the JTC, finalization of the Terms of Reference (ToR) and the agenda for 2020 will be discussed.
Be one on the lookout for a separate announcement note to Members, with a standard template and how we will manage this JTC process regarding your questions / enquiries.
Yours in Transformation,
